When it comes to the leader in mobile ordering, there’s no longer one clear victor. In this month’s edition of the PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Mobile Order-Ahead Apps, last month’s winner is forced to share the crown.
This monthly ranking, based on a proprietary combination of publicly available information and app usage data to which PYMNTS has access, reveals which restaurant apps are pulling ahead and which are falling behind.
The Top Five
While Domino’s Pizza may be holding its first place spot with a score of 96, it is no longer the sole gold medalist. Last month’s second-place pick Taco Bell is now tied with the pizza chain, and Starbucks leapt up from its previous fifth-place spot to join in this three-way tie.
Meanwhile, the Dunkin’ and Panera Bread apps held constant at a score of 95 — but this month, that score has them tied for No. 2, rather than last month’s No. 3.
In fact, in third place is last month’s No. 4 pick, Pizza Hut, as well as one of last month’s fifth-place contenders, Burger King, both earning a score of 91.
Both Chick-fil-A and Wingstop have jumped from No. 5 to No. 4, earning scores of 90.
McDonald’s has eked its way into the top five, coming in fifth with a score of 89, where it is joined by Papa John’s Pizza.
The Top 10
Chipotle has fallen out of the top five, ranking No. 6 this month with a score of 87, which has it tied with last month’s No. 8 pick, Sonic.
Sheetz has jumped up two places from No. 9 to No. 7, scoring 81.
Additionally, Subway has made it into the top 10, coming in at No. 8 with a score of 78 — pulling ahead of Shake Shack, which jumped up from No. 10 last month to No. 9 with a score of 76.
Closing out this month’s top 10, Blaze Pizza made its way onto the chart at No. 10 with a score of 74.
