  • India introduced policy proposals supporting online payments, fostering an environment for more inclusion.
  • Unified Payment Interface (UPI) was introduced to provide tokenization for online payments.
  • The country’s central bank gave approval to 11 applicants seeking to set up payment banks to boost financial inclusion.
