Conductor enables software engineers to manage multiple coding agents at the same time, and Meta’s acquisition of the company will help its own models and ecosystem compete for coders, according to the report.
Conductor Founder and CEO Charlie Holtz said in a Wednesday post on X that Conductor is joining Meta.
“We have some big, crazy plans for the next interface,” Holtz said. “If you liked Conductor, you’re gonna love what’s coming. We’re super excited to work with [Nat Friedman] and [Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang] at [Meta Superintelligence Labs] to build it.”
In a reply to Holtz’s post, Wang said, “welcome folks!”
In a changelog post on the Conductor site, the company said Conductor is joining Meta and its products will be wound down over the coming weeks and months.
In an announcement on the Conductor site, Holtz said he launched Conductor in July 2025.
“Writing most of your code with agents (let alone a team of coding agents) felt crazy back then,” Holtz said. “You trusted us to come along for the ride, and we cannot think you enough!”
PYMNTS reported in May that the AI coding boom has changed the economics of software creation by lowering the cost of production and dramatically increasing iteration speed.
The PYMNTS Intelligence report “New Data Shows How Tech Sectors Are Turning AI Into Strategy” found that the tech industry is at the forefront of AI adoption.
“Cybersecurity firms use AI most broadly, SaaS firms are most willing to experiment and payments firms are most disciplined about where they invest,” the report said.
It was reported in June that Uber burned through its full 2026 AI budget in four months after encouraging engineers to adopt agentic coding tools without usage limits.
Meta said in August that it released a terminal coding agent called Muse Code in beta.
When announcing the launch of its Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full frontier models in October, Meta said they bring “frontier coding performance for people building everything from a game to an app for a new business.”
