Personal Loan Provider Ranking Would’ve Been Easy — Except for One Giant Change

SoFi App

Maybe you’d like to consolidate some debt. That roof isn’t going to earn its own money and fix itself — and come to think of it, neither is your car.

For these and other reasons too numerous to mention, yet utterly familiar to us all, personal loans are a vitally important tool for accessing money when you’ve got to get things done.

PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Personal Loan Apps does our bit by showing the hottest apps ranked and scored according to their downloads and vital user metrics.

In other words, it’s not so much a popularity contest as it is a financial free-for-all.

And these rankings, at least, are free for all. This one is also quite brief, so give it a quick read.

The Top Five

Big change at No. 1, as the SoFi app unseats the longstanding king of this ranking.

Now at No. 2 for the first time in a long time, we’ve got the MoneyLion app. Roar.

Settle in for the usual hit parade from here on out, as we haven’t had another change — which isn’t unheard of, and especially not on a short list of highly specialized apps like this.

The Upgrade app sits contentedly at No. 3, as before.

So too does the Avant app, unchanged at No. 4.

Taking us out of the top five at what’s become its customary position (for now) is the LendingTree app at No. 5, completing another cycle in the lives of personal loan apps that lead the pack.

The Top 10

That’s not to say there are no leaders outside the top five. Don’t be silly. First of all, there are only two of them in this particular ranking, and secondly, they’re both hot companies.

At No. 6 and eyeing that No. 5 spot hungrily month in, month out, it’s the PaySense app, showing remarkable staying power by virtue of the fact that it always makes the cut.

This is also true for the FlexWage app, snug at No. 7 and completing this briefest of all PYMNTS Provider Rankings.

Personal loan apps. Now you know who to talk to about that roof. And that car. And just stuff.
