Just Eat Takeaway.com Rolls Out Pre-Paid Card For Meal Expenses

Global delivery giant Just Eat Takeaway.com is launching a debit card to make it easier for employees to cover meal expenses offline or online without filling out reports. 

The new Takeaway Pay Card is operated by global payments platform Adyen and will work at select Mastercard and Maestro merchants anywhere in the world. The collaboration between the delivery giant and Adyen adds more food and beverage merchants to the Takeaway Pay employee benefits package, according to a press release emailed on Thursday (Aug. 19).

Initially, the card will be launched to Just Eat Takeaway.com’s employees in a dozen European countries. New and existing corporate clients in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland are being added now, with the strategy to bring on more countries to the benefits mix in the coming months.

“With a shift to hybrid workplaces and return to offices, Takeaway Pay accelerates its trajectory to empower employees’ every food moment,” Just Eat Takeaway.com Director of Corporate Solutions Imad Qutob said.

“No matter if employees are at home, on the go for commutes, on a business trip, or for regular outdoor team lunches, Takeaway Pay is the benefit that serves corporations’ employees with the most holistic food benefits,” Qutob added.

The pre-funded Takeaway Pay Card is an add-on perk to the benefits package companies offer to help and connect with their workers. The extension benefit to meal allowances also aligns with the flexibility that employees have come to rely upon, according to the press release.

Adyen COO Kamran Zaki said that the company is looking forward to seeing how its latest solution is being used and anticipates that human resources teams will see the “benefit from the instant and transparent overview of employee spending.”

Mastercard Country Manager The Netherlands Jan-Willem van der Schoot said that the hospitality space is just starting to come back from the pandemic lockdowns, but accompanying costs are higher than before. 

“Together with our partners, we enable a fast, easy and safe payment experience for travel and expenses, whether it’s from the comfort of your home or around the world,” he said.
